Discord Bot

HubMatch has an official Discord bot that connects the platform to the HubMatch Discord server. It handles notifications, voice channel management, and dispute resolution - all designed to keep you informed and make match coordination smoother.

Linking Your Discord Account

To use the bot, you need to link your Discord account to HubMatch. This happens automatically when you log into HubMatch using Discord as your sign-in method. Once linked, the platform stores your Discord ID and the bot can send you direct messages and manage your voice channel presence.

You can check whether your account is linked in your player settings. If your Discord ID is not set, log out and log back in using the Discord sign-in option.

What the Bot Does

Notification forwarding. The bot sends you DMs for important platform events - match reminders, team invites, tournament check-ins, scrim confirmations, and more. Each notification includes a rich embed with all the relevant details and a direct link to the match or event on HubMatch. You can control which notification categories you receive in your player settings (match, team, tournament, scrim, tryout, league, queue).

Voice channel management. When a Pickup Queue or 10-Mans match is found, the bot automatically creates a temporary voice channel and moves all matched players into it. The host receives a special message reminding them to create the Rematch lobby. Voice channels are cleaned up automatically after the match ends.

Dispute resolution. When a match dispute is escalated, the bot creates a private text channel visible only to the involved captains, the competition organizer, and platform admins. Both sides submit evidence, and the admin resolves the dispute directly through Discord buttons - no need to go back to the website. The channel is archived after resolution and kept as a permanent record.

Key Commands and Interactions

Most bot interactions happen automatically through webhooks from the backend rather than manual commands. Here is what you will encounter:

  • Match notification DMs - rich embeds with match details, opponent name, format, and scheduled time, plus a "View Match" link.
  • Voice channel auto-join - the bot moves you into the match voice channel when your Pickup or 10-Mans game is ready. If you are not on the server, you get a DM with an invite link.
  • Dispute channels - private text channels (#score-dispute-XXXXX or #rules-violation-XXXXX) where you upload evidence and admins make decisions via resolution buttons.
  • Evidence requests - the bot tags both captains and asks them to upload screenshots, video clips, and descriptions of the incident.

Why Linking Is Worth It

Without a linked Discord account, you miss out on real-time DM notifications, automatic voice channel placement for queue matches, and direct participation in dispute channels. The in-app notification system still works, but Discord integration means you get alerts even when you are not actively browsing the platform.

For competitive players, the voice channel feature alone is a significant quality-of-life improvement - no more scrambling to find the right channel or sharing invite links manually. And if a dispute arises, being present in the Discord channel speeds up resolution and lets you present your side with evidence immediately.

Linking takes no extra effort beyond signing in with Discord once. If you are active on the HubMatch Discord server, there is no reason not to have it connected.
