Authentication and Account Setup

Authentication and Account Setup

Before you can create a team, join a tournament, or post on the LFP board, you need a HubMatch account. Sign-up is free and takes a couple of minutes. This guide walks you through account creation, email verification, linking your game platform, and recovering access if something goes wrong.

Creating an Account

Click Sign In in the top-right corner of the site and choose Register on the login screen. You will be taken to a secure login page where you provide a username, email, and password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters and include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one digit, and one special character.

You only need one HubMatch account per person. Alt accounts used to dodge penalties or manipulate ELO are a violation - see the Rules Violations help article.

Email Verification

After signing up, check your inbox for a verification link. You can use all features right after registering; verifying your email is recommended for account recovery. If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder, and use the Resend verification option on the login screen.

Linking Your Game Platforms

Once logged in, you complete your profile by linking at least one platform account (Steam, Epic Games, Xbox, or PlayStation). This tells captains and tournament organizers which platform tag to use when inviting you to a lobby. You can link multiple platforms if you play across them - see the Cross-Platform Play help article.

Your primary platform also determines which Rematch (the game) account gets credited when you join a lobby via a 6-digit lobby code.

First-Login Profile Setup

After verifying your email, the profile setup modal walks you through the essentials: nickname, positions you play, your region, and optional fields like preferred formation and play style. You can skip most fields and fill them in later, but a complete profile dramatically improves your chances of getting recruited.

Password Reset and Recovery

Forgot your password? Use the Forgot Password link on the login screen. We email a password-reset link to your registered address. The link expires after a short period for security. If you lose access to your email, contact support via the HubMatch Discord - account recovery without email verification requires manual review.

Security Tips

Use a unique password you do not reuse elsewhere. Enable two-factor authentication in your account security settings if you captain a team or organize tournaments - account takeovers on high-visibility profiles have real impact. Log out of shared devices and do not share credentials with teammates. HubMatch staff will never ask for your password.

Once your account is verified and your profile is set up, you are ready to find a team, create a scrim, or register for your first tournament.
